In The Mood - Cherry Blossom Inspiration

As you can see, I'm in a very springlike mood today as today's wedding design ideas are all based around cherry blossom. There's something very comforting about seeing the blossom appear on the trees, hints that summer is just around the corner and the pretty, colourful side of nature is chasing away the cold.

Cherry blossom is a fabulous wedding theme - delicate, feminine and undeniably gorgeous. Beautiful shades of pink can be combined with blues, greens or browns to complete your colour swatch and then layer up the details like the petals in a bud. So, read on...

Above - Cherry blossom only has a short season so you can add paper petals to branches to give lots of colour. Guest's seating details can be written on each paper flower to make a stunning 'table tree' that's a real centrepiece. Image - www.marthastewartweddings.com

Above - Paper fans are a fab detail, in keeping with the feel of the day, delicate and pretty. If you're getting married on a warm day, a basket of these would certainly be appreciated by guests feeling the heat!

Above - Pretty parasols are great, not just for providing shade on a sunny day (and no-one wants a bride with sunburnt shoulders!) but they're also a fab decorative prop - hang them in clusters in the corners of rooms and marquees. Image - www.pinkfrosting.com.au

Above - A great take on the traditional guest book! Ask guest's to write their good wishes on a tag tie it to your tree. It looks better as the day goes on and you could even keep this on display at home once the day is over. Image - www.marthastewartweddings.com

Above - Don't forget drinks in your detailing! These gorgeously coloured tipples add to the overall look of the day and how cute are the little blossom shaped cookies? The cookies are another easy wedding DIY as well. Image - www.marthastewartweddings.com

Above - A gown adds more than you think to the overall look of the day so something delicately layered is perfect for cherry blossom weddings. This absolutely heavenly design is by Claire Pettibone.

Above - Elegant can certainly still have impact and this chic table layout definitely has the wow factor. Pastel coloured linens, loosely arranged flowers and open chair backs keep this look light and gorgeous.

Above - Another cost effective way to decorate a marquee is to string paper lanterns inside. You can also use them outside to create a really romantic hideaway area or to light a walkway. Image - www.stylehive.com

Above - I just adore this bouquet. Peonies & Ranunculus are two of my favourites anyway but add Sweet Peas, Jasmine & Blossoms and I'm in heaven. Image - www.marthastewartweddings.com
