I like to mooch around my local farmer's market and right now, the stalls have the most beautifully coloured fruits and vegetables on them. It's really such a wonderful sight and this got me thinking about vegetables at weddings. I'm such a fan of natural things at weddings in whatever form that may take so why not use vegetables? Now I'm not saying you need to turn your wedding into some grown up version of a school harvest festival but a few quirky little touches here and there, particularly if you're having a bit of a country bash, will grab attention and create some smiles.
So here are some fun and fabulous ideas for getting your five-a-day on your special day...
Above - gorgeous greens here surrounding these candles. Love the trimmed green beans tied with ribbon arranged around the candle on the bottom left and the candles sat in the hollowed out artichokes are rather brilliant too. Image - Better Homes & Gardens
Above - now there's a table decoration you don't see very often - a row of vivid orange carrots, all lined up like they've just been plucked from the field. Image - via Breguet PM
Above - we've had sweetie buffets, dessert buffets and now we're having a vegetable buffet! But really, how fab would this be instead of canapes? Definitely a talking point, definitely fun, definitely unusual and amazingly healthy too (if you steer clear of the creamy dips of course!) Image - via Budget Dream Weddings
Above - who would have thought bouquets with vegetables in could look so brilliant but these two pics prove that they can. Image - Dan Vermillion
Above - the image on the left is just a little reminder of the wonderful colours and shapes you could include and the pic on the right is a great favour idea. Vegetable seeds in little boxes are wrapped with very appropriate wrapping paper and tied with an earthy green ribbon. I think the tiny egg shells with the cress grown inside them are just the sweetest little detail. Image - Edyta Szyszlo
Above - now this is a real table of plenty! The vegetables growing from that stand look just great and the piles of fabulously coloured goodies underneath are equally brilliant. Love the natural coloured table linen and the warming glow of the candles too. How amazing would this look for a farm or barn style wedding? Image - via Martha Stewart
Above - fabulous letterpress stationery adorned with vegetables of all shapes, sizes and colours. Image - Painted Tongue
Above - another gorgeous vegetable bouquet plus a highly original buttonhole but wow, I am loving that orange/green combo against the dark suit. If you've got the guts to do it differently, this is fabulous! Image - via Artessen
Above - isn't this the healthiest seating card table ever?! The guest's names are pinned to each little vegetable and are lined up on a wonderfully rustic table. This would be such a talking point and it's so simple to put together. Image - via The Knot
Above - I like this unusual grouping, it might not say 'table centre' to me but it would look great on a buffet, cake or seating card table. Those subtly colour vases are the icing on the (carrot) cake! Image - Elizabeth Anne Designs
